Departure and Lament in Separation
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Significance: Establishes auspiciousness (śivānugraha) for consecration (pratiṣṭhā) and for beginning Śaiva rites; removes obstacles to successful completion of Śiva-related undertakings.
Type: stotra
It teaches that sacred recitation (pāṭha) sanctifies the beginning of worship and consecration, aligning the act with Śiva as Pati (the Lord) so that the rite becomes spiritually fruitful and grace-bearing.
Pratiṣṭhā commonly refers to installing and consecrating a murti or Śiva-liṅga; the verse emphasizes invoking Saguna Śiva through mantra/scriptural chanting so the installed form becomes a proper focus for devotion and ritual.
Chant the prescribed verse/mantra at the start of any Śiva-pūjā or consecration (pratiṣṭhā), treating recitation as a purifying opening act (ārambha) that invites Śiva’s pleasure and protection.
