It teaches that dharmic devotion (pativrata-bhāva) has gradations, and that sincere remembrance (smaraṇa) of such ideals purifies the mind and burns sin—supporting the Shaiva emphasis on inner transformation through bhakti and right conduct.
In Shaiva practice, Saguna Shiva is approached through virtues that mirror His order (dharma). Remembering exemplary devotees refines one’s character and steadies devotion, making the mind fit for Linga-worship, mantra-japa, and disciplined observance.
The takeaway is smaraṇa (devotional recollection): remember and contemplate dharmic exemplars while doing Shiva-japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to cultivate purity and reduce pāpa through sustained bhakti.
