मेनायाः क्रोध-विलापः — Menā’s Lament and Reproach
to the Sage
इति श्रीशिवमहापुराणे द्वितीयायां रुद्रसंहितायां तृतीये पार्वती खण्डे मेनाप्रबोधवर्णनो नाम चतुश्चत्वारिंशोऽध्यायः
iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe dvitīyāyāṃ rudrasaṃhitāyāṃ tṛtīye pārvatī khaṇḍe menāprabodhavarṇano nāma catuścatvāriṃśo'dhyāyaḥ
Assim termina o quadragésimo quarto capítulo, chamado «A Descrição do Despertar (Instrução) de Menā», no Pārvatī Khaṇḍa, a terceira seção da segunda parte—a Rudra Saṃhitā—do venerável Śrī Śiva Mahāpurāṇa.
Suta Goswami (traditional Purāṇic colophon concluding the chapter, narrated to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
This is a concluding colophon that seals the chapter’s teaching: Menā’s “awakening” signifies inner clarification—turning the mind toward Śiva’s will and recognizing the divine purpose behind Pārvatī’s life, a key Shaiva theme of grace guiding understanding.
Though not a ritual instruction itself, the colophon marks the completion of a narrative unit within the Rudra Saṃhitā, where Saguna Śiva’s līlā unfolds through family, vows, and devotion—contexts that traditionally culminate in Linga-centered worship and steadfast bhakti.
As a chapter-ending formula, it implies a pause for śravaṇa-manana: reflect on the chapter’s message and reaffirm devotion—commonly done by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a brief prayer to Śiva and Pārvatī for right understanding (prabodha).
