The Episode of Anaraṇya’s Daughter and Sage Pippalāda
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
It shows the soul’s turning-point: Pārvatī seeks the right sādhana and prays for buddhi (clear discernment) to arise within, since attaining Śiva (Pati) ultimately requires inner purification and His auspicious grace.
Though phrased as inner contemplation, it supports Saguna devotion: one seeks the proper ‘vyavasthā’—such as Linga-worship, mantra-japa, and vrata—so the mind becomes fit to realize Śiva’s presence and attain His favor.
The verse implies choosing disciplined sādhana—especially mantra-japa (notably the Pañcākṣarī/“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), meditation with focused buddhi, and tapas with purity—so that inner clarity arises and leads to Śiva-attainment.
