कामप्रहारः — The Subduing of Kāma (Desire) / Kāma’s Assault and Its Futility
ब्रह्मोवाच । इत्याकर्ण्यामरवचः प्रसन्नः परमेश्वरः । पुनर्बभाषे करुणासागरस्सकलेश्वरः
brahmovāca | ityākarṇyāmaravacaḥ prasannaḥ parameśvaraḥ | punarbabhāṣe karuṇāsāgarassakaleśvaraḥ
Brahmā disse: Tendo ouvido assim as palavras dos imortais, Parameśvara ficou satisfeito. Então Śiva—oceano de compaixão, Senhor de tudo—falou novamente.
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It highlights Śiva as Parameśvara who responds to sincere supplication: when the devas’ prayer is heard, His grace naturally arises, showing that divine compassion is central to liberation and protection.
By calling Him “Sakaleśvara” and “Karuṇāsāgara,” the verse frames Saguna Shiva as a personal Lord who hears and answers devotees—precisely the devotional attitude cultivated in Liṅga worship and Purāṇic prayer.
Adopt prayerful listening and recitation (śravaṇa–kīrtana) of Shiva’s names—especially “Parameśvara” and “Karuṇāsāgara”—and pair it with Panchākṣarī japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to seek His prasāda (grace).
