Andhakeśvara-liṅga Māhātmya and Śiva’s Subjugation of Andhaka
madarpitaṃ ca yatkiṃciddhanadhānyādikantathā | tatsarvaṃ ca tvayā grāhyaṃ na doṣāya bhaviṣyati
“Tudo quanto—riquezas, grãos ou qualquer outra oferta—me for dedicado, toma-o por inteiro sem hesitar; isso não se tornará falta (pecado) para ti.”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Significance: Establishes the dharmic principle that offerings made to Śiva (madarpita) become prasāda and may be accepted without accruing doṣa—supporting temple economy and the ethics of receiving consecrated gifts.
Offering: naivedya
It affirms that offerings made in Shiva-bhakti become sanctified; accepting or using what is first dedicated to Shiva is free from moral fault when aligned with dharma and devotion.
In Linga worship, devotees offer dhana, dhanya, and naivedya to Saguna Shiva; once offered, it becomes Shiva-prasada, meant to be respectfully received and distributed without fear of impurity or blame.
Practice arpaṇa-bhāva (the attitude of offering): dedicate food/wealth to Shiva before use, treat the remainder as prasada, and support Shiva-puja and pilgrims—especially during Mahashivratri.
