Methodical Explanation of the Meaning of Praṇava/Om
Lord Shiva (teaching in the Kailāsa-saṃhitā philosophical discourse)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches that names and identities function within conditioned experience; when conditioning (upādhi) falls away through right knowledge and inner purification, the being abides in its own true nature—pointing to liberation (moksha) as freedom from superimposition.
Linga and Saguna worship provides a sacred support for the mind within the realm of names and forms; by devotion, mantra, and purity, the devotee’s limitations thin out, and realization matures toward the unconditioned truth that the symbols indicate.
Consistent japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrāksha, along with contemplative inquiry into the impermanence of conditioned identities, is implied as a practical path for dissolving upādhis.
