Sukta 1.17

Rishi: Kakṣīvant Dairghatamasa (traditionally for RV 1.17)
Devata: Indra-Varuṇa (dual)
Chandas: Triṣṭubh (probable)

इन्द्रः सहस्रदाव्नां वरुणः शंस्यानाम् । क्रतुर्भवत्युक्थ्यः ॥

índraḥ sahasra-dā́vnāṃ váruṇaḥ śáṃsyānām | kratúr bhavaty ukthyàḥ ||

Indra é dos que concedem plenitude mil vezes; Varuṇa é dos que devem ser afirmados na palavra inspirada. O krátu (vontade e poder de discernimento) torna‑se apto para o hino e a invocação.
