Sarga 15: The Devas’ Petition, the Means to Slay Ravana, and Vishnu’s Commission to Incarnate as Man
तत: प्राक्रमदिष्टिं तां पुत्रीयां पुत्रकारणात्।जुहाव चाग्नौ तेजस्वी मन्त्रदृष्टेन कर्मणा।।1.15.3।।
tataḥ prākramad iṣṭiṁ tāṁ putrīyāṁ putrakāraṇāt | juhāva cāgnau tejasvī mantradṛṣṭena karmaṇā || 1.15.3 ||
Então, para gerar filhos, o radiante Ṛśyaśṛṅga iniciou o sacrifício Putrīyeṣṭi e derramou oblações no fogo, realizando o rito conforme ordenado pelos mantras revelados.
Visnu, the lord of the celestials, foremost among the gods and bowed by all in the worlds addressed the assembled devatas who were guided by the law of righteousness and were led by the grand sire, Brahma.
Dharma here is faithful performance of prescribed duty (yajña-karma) in accordance with mantra and tradition, aligning personal aims with righteous means.
