FAQs

It advises disciplined worship: do not perform worship casually from afar, avoid worship in a state of anger, maintain appropriate decorum regarding proximity, and show humility by not talking back or standing arrogantly in the revered one’s presence.

In context it typically points to the object of reverence—most often the deity (arcā/īśvara) or a highly revered person such as a guru or elder—indicating rules of respectful approach and conduct.

The verse emphasizes humility and inner readiness: worship and reverence should be performed with calmness, proximity/attention (not negligence), and respectful behavior in speech and posture.
