FAQs

It praises truthfulness, restraint in speech, pleasant speech, freedom from anger, proper conduct, avoiding excessive argumentation, and being free from envy or fault-finding.

In this context it points to disciplined restraint in speech—speaking when appropriate and avoiding needless or harmful talk—rather than absolute silence at all times.

Cultivate integrity and gentleness in communication: speak truth kindly, keep speech measured, avoid anger-driven reactions, do not indulge in quarrelsome debate, and refrain from envy or criticism of others.
