शृणु वत्स महाभाग सत्यमेतद्वदाम्यहम् । पापयोनिं तु संप्राप्य पूर्वकर्मसमुद्भवाम्

śṛṇu vatsa mahābhāga satyametadvadāmyaham | pāpayoniṃ tu saṃprāpya pūrvakarmasamudbhavām

«Ouve, meu filho, ó muito afortunado: eu te direi a verdade. Ao alcançar um ventre pecaminoso, nascido das ações passadas (karma), o ser sofre de acordo com isso.»
