The sons (putrāḥ)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
Sandhi Resolution Notes:
Truth (satya) is presented as the king’s sustaining principle for protecting and governing the people, alongside steadfast commitment to dharma.
They are puzzled that a king known for dharma and truthful governance is showing an unexpected change of mood—described as prakṛti-cāpala, a kind of instability or fickleness.
Even established virtue can be tested by sudden inner shifts; the verse implicitly urges self-examination and a return to steady dharma and satya when inconsistency appears.
