Śrī Devī (the Goddess)

Concept: Divine potency reveals itself immediately when approached with sincerity; grace can manifest ‘sadyah’ (at once) when conditions are ripe.

Application: Approach sacred practices (japa, vrata, temple service) with attentive curiosity and reverence; test by lived discipline rather than cynicism, and observe the subtle ‘phala’ in character and clarity.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shringara

Type: forest

FAQs

The verse highlights that the Goddess, driven by curiosity, performs a verification (pratyaya) and immediately witnesses the result (phala), expressed here as the manifestation/recognition of the addressee’s beauty (rūpasaṃpadā).

It means “a test/verification was performed.” Here it conveys that Devī deliberately examined or proved something regarding the tree’s nature, rather than acting randomly.

It suggests immediacy between cause and effect in certain sacred or extraordinary contexts: a deliberate action or inquiry can yield an immediate, observable outcome—encouraging intentionality and discernment.
