The Description of the Glory of Dvādaśī
Narada (addressing the Lord / revered interlocutor in the Ekadashi context)
Vrata: Ekādaśī-upavāsa
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It presents Ekādaśī-upavāsa as a powerful purificatory observance (vrata/prāyaścitta) that dissolves sins generated through the full range of sense-activity (the “eleven indriyas”).
By emphasizing fasting on Ekādaśī, it points to disciplined sense-restraint offered to Viṣṇu as a practical form of bhakti—reducing sense-driven wrongdoing and turning the practitioner toward devotional purity.
It primarily highlights ritual discipline (kalpa-style vrata practice): the observance of upavāsa on Ekādaśī as a structured dharmic remedy for moral and sensory transgressions.
