Hanumān-mantra-kathana: Mantra-bheda, Nyāsa, Yantra, and Prayoga
तैलाक्ताभिश्च निर्गुंडीसमिद्भिर्वा प्रयत्नतः । सौभाग्ये चंदनैश्चेंद्रलोचनैर्वा लवंगकैः ॥ ५७ ॥
tailāktābhiśca nirguṃḍīsamidbhirvā prayatnataḥ | saubhāgye caṃdanaiśceṃdralocanairvā lavaṃgakaiḥ || 57 ||
Com esforço, pode-se realizar o rito usando gravetos de acendimento (samidh) de nirguṇḍī untados com óleo. E para alcançar a boa fortuna (saubhāgya), podem-se usar sândalo, indralocana ou cravo-da-índia.

The verse teaches that the efficacy and intention of a rite can be supported by choosing specific, auspicious ritual substances—oil-smeared nirgundī kindling and fragrant materials—especially when the aim is saubhāgya (good fortune).
While primarily technical, it reflects bhakti in practice: devotion is expressed through careful, reverent preparation of offerings (samidh and fragrances) aligned with a sacred intention, making the ritual an act of disciplined worship.
It highlights applied ritual know-how connected to Kalpa (the Vedanga of ritual procedure): selecting appropriate samidh and auspicious substances according to the intended phala (result), such as saubhāgya.
