The Explanation of Sandhyā and Related Daily Observances
Saṅdhyā-ādi Nitya-karma-Vidhi
Sanatkumara (in instruction to Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It teaches ritual sequencing and purity: begin with Vedic Sandhyā, then proceed to the Tantric/āgamic practice, purified by ācamana, and sanctify the rite by invoking tīrthas—making the worship both orthodox and effective.
By emphasizing disciplined preparation—Sandhyā, purification, and sacred invocation—it frames devotion as careful, reverent service (upacāra) where inner intent is supported by correct outward practice.
Ritual procedure (kalpa-prayoga) is foregrounded: the order of rites, ācamana rules, mantra-practitioner conduct, and tirtha-āvāhana as a technical step in worship.
