The Greatness of the Gaṅgā

FAQs

It highlights a puranic model of responding to crisis: when cosmic order is threatened, the devas first engage in serious deliberation (vicāra) to find a dharmic means to restore balance.

Bhakti is not stated directly here; however, the verse sets a narrative condition where the devas, unable to bear distress, typically turn toward higher counsel and divine aid—often culminating in refuge in the Supreme (commonly Vishnu) in the broader puranic pattern.

No specific Vedanga (like Vyakarana, Jyotisha, or Kalpa) is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is governance through deliberation (vicāra) before action, consistent with dharmic decision-making.
