The Greatness of the Gaṅgā
Gaṅgāmāhātmya
अहो गङ्गा महाभागा स्मृता पापप्रणाशिनी । हरिलोकप्रदा दृष्टा पीता सारूप्यदायिनी । यत्र स्नाता नरा यान्ति विष्णोः पदमनुत्तमम् ॥ ६७ ॥
aho gaṅgā mahābhāgā smṛtā pāpapraṇāśinī | harilokapradā dṛṣṭā pītā sārūpyadāyinī | yatra snātā narā yānti viṣṇoḥ padamanuttamam || 67 ||
Ah! Bem-aventurada é a grande Gaṅgā: apenas lembrada, destrói os pecados; vista, concede o mundo de Hari; bebida, outorga sārūpya, a semelhança com o Senhor. Aqueles que nela se banham vão à morada insuperável de Viṣṇu.

It presents Gaṅgā as a multi-fold liberating tīrtha: remembrance removes sin, darśana grants Hari-loka, drinking her water gives sārūpya, and bathing leads to Viṣṇu’s supreme abode—linking sacred practice directly to mokṣa-oriented फल (spiritual results).
The verse frames simple devotional acts—smaraṇa (remembering), darśana (reverent seeing), and honoring Gaṅgā as Hari’s sacred presence—as bhakti-sādhana that culminates in reaching Viṣṇu-pada.
Primarily kalpa-oriented ritual practice is implied: tīrtha-snānā, respectful darśana, and taking sacred water (ācāmana) as purificatory acts; it is not a technical Vyākaraṇa/Jyotiṣa passage but a dharma-kalpa application.
