Yajñamālī–Sumālī Upākhyāna: Merit-Transfer through Temple Plastering (Lepa) and the Redemption of a Sinner
Haridutas (messengers of Hari/Vishnu)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: vira
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It shows divine discernment in action: Hari’s messengers openly identify a person’s pāpātmā (sinful disposition), indicating that moral character—not merely relations or status—matters in the cosmic order of dharma.
By presenting Haridūtas as agents of Hari, the verse reinforces that alignment with Viṣṇu’s dharma protects and guides devotees; bhakti is not sentimental alone but tied to ethical clarity and rejection of sinful conduct.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this line; the practical takeaway is dharma-viveka (ethical discernment), a prerequisite for correct ritual intention and right conduct in Purāṇic practice.
