Narada Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 119

Mokṣopāya: Bhakti-rooted Jñāna and the Aṣṭāṅga Yoga of Viṣṇu-Meditation

अगर्भश्च सगर्भश्च द्वितीयस्तु तयोर्वरः । जयध्यानं विनागर्भः सगर्भस्तत्समन्वितः ॥ १९ ॥

agarbhaśca sagarbhaśca dvitīyastu tayorvaraḥ | jayadhyānaṃ vināgarbhaḥ sagarbhastatsamanvitaḥ || 19 ||

A meditação (dhyāna) é de dois tipos: sem suporte (nirgarbha) e com suporte (sagarbha). Dentre ambos, o segundo—meditação com suporte—é superior. ‘Jaya-dhyāna’ é a modalidade sem suporte; a com suporte é aquela que a acompanha, unida a uma forma, a um mantra ou a um atributo sagrado.
