Dharmakīrti before Yama
सदैव दुष्कृतं चक्रुः षष्टांशस्तत्रमेऽभवत् । एवं पापसमाचारो व्यसनाभिरतः सदा ॥ ५९ ॥
sadaiva duṣkṛtaṃ cakruḥ ṣaṣṭāṃśastatrame'bhavat | evaṃ pāpasamācāro vyasanābhirataḥ sadā || 59 ||
Eles praticavam continuamente más ações; e, nisso, coube-me uma parte de um sexagésimo. Assim, tendo a conduta pecaminosa como hábito, ele permanecia sempre entregue aos vícios.

It highlights that persistent wrongdoing creates karmic consequence, and even an associated party may receive a fractional share of that demerit, while habitual vice (vyasana) entrenches one deeper in pāpa.
By contrasting sinful habit with the need for purification, it implicitly supports Bhakti as a corrective discipline—turning the mind from vyasana to sattva through devotion and right conduct (sadācāra).
It reflects Dharma-śāstric reasoning used alongside Kalpa (ritual discipline): actions generate measurable karmic results (pāpa-bhāga), motivating expiatory practice (prāyaścitta) and regulated conduct.
