Jyotiṣa-śāstra Saṅgraha: Threefold Division, Gaṇita Methods, Muhūrta, and Planetary Reckoning
hanyādguṇena guṇyaṃ syāttainaivopāṃtimādikān | śuddheddharoyadguṇaścabhājyāṃtyāttatphalaṃ mune || 15 ||
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It teaches a practical Moksha-Dharma method: use a positive virtue as the remedy for negative tendencies, and as one’s inner conduct becomes purified, the virtue naturally ripens into its appropriate spiritual fruit.
Bhakti matures when the heart is purified; this verse implies that cultivating sattvic virtues (like humility, truthfulness, compassion) removes obstacles, making the devotee fit to receive the full fruit of devotion.
The verse emphasizes applied discipline rather than a specific Vedanga, but it aligns with Vyakarana-style clarity in practice: identify the fault, apply the opposing virtue as the corrective, and let purified conduct produce measurable results.
