ब्रूह्याद्यादेः परस्याप्यौ श्रावयेत्यादिके प्लुतः । दाश्वांश्व स्वतवान्यापौत्रिभिष्ट्वं च नृभिष्टुतः ॥ १७ ॥
brūhyādyādeḥ parasyāpyau śrāvayetyādike plutaḥ | dāśvāṃśva svatavānyāpautribhiṣṭvaṃ ca nṛbhiṣṭutaḥ || 17 ||
Nas formas que começam por “brūhi” e expressões semelhantes, bem como na palavra seguinte “au”, e ainda nas formas iniciadas por “śrāvayet”, a vogal deve ser proferida como pluta (som prolongado). Do mesmo modo, em “dāśvāṃśva”, “svatavān” e no agrupamento “yā‑pautri‑” emprega-se o som “tvaṃ”; e em “nṛbhiṣṭutaḥ” prescreve-se o tratamento fonético pertinente.
