Account of the Aṣṭamī Vow Across the Twelve Months
Narada (teaching within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue framework)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It frames devotion as complete reverence: honoring the sacred realm of Vraja and its devotees (gopas, gopīs) along with cows, then concluding worship with ārati, humility, and a request for forgiveness—purifying any ritual lapses.
Bhakti is shown as affectionate honor (samarcana) toward the Lord’s dhāma and associates, followed by heartfelt surrender—bowing and kṣamāprārthanā—indicating devotion is not only ritual action but also humility and repentance.
Ritual praxis is emphasized: the structured completion of pūjā with ārati and kṣamāprārthanā reflects kalpa-style procedure (proper sequencing and expiation for omissions), even though no specific Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa rule is cited in this verse.
