The Description of the Index/Summary of the Garuḍa
Purāṇa
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It functions as a phala-śruti: it declares that hearing or reciting the Gāruḍa Purāṇa purifies sin and supports both bhukti (well-being in life) and mukti (liberation).
By praising śravaṇa (hearing) and pāṭha (recitation) of Purāṇic kathā, it aligns with bhakti-sādhana where attentive listening to sacred narratives becomes a direct means of inner purification.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa) is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is the sādhana method—regular recitation and listening as a disciplined religious practice.
