Adhyaya 24 — Kuvalayashva’s Refusal of Gifts and the Vision of Madalasa’s Maya
मायेति दर्शिता तेन मिथ्या मायेति यत्स्फुटम् ।
वाय्वम्बुतेजसां भूमेराकाशस्य च चेष्टया ॥
māyeti darśitā tena mithyā māyeti yat sphuṭam |
vāyv ambu-tejasāṃ bhūmer ākāśasya ca ceṣṭayā ||
Por meio dele ficou claramente demonstrado que era “māyā”, de fato uma māyā falsa—pelas operações do vento, da água, do fogo, da terra e do espaço.

What appears compelling can be constructed from elemental processes; therefore one should not grant ultimate reality to sense-appearances.
Not a pancalakṣaṇa core (creation/manvantara/lineage), but a philosophical aside within narrative, consistent with Purāṇic pedagogy.
The five elements represent the field of experience; māyā is the misapprehension arising when consciousness identifies with their movements.
