Arjuna–Duryodhana Engagement and Admonition
यत् त्वया कथितं पूर्व मामनासाद्य किंचन । तदद्य कुरु राधेय कुरुमध्ये मया सह,राधानन्दन! मेरे साथ भिड़न्त होनेके पहले कौरवोंकी सभामें तूने जो कुछ कहा है, आज मेरे साथ युद्ध करके वह सब सत्य कर दिखा
yat tvayā kathitaṃ pūrvaṃ mām anāsādya kiñcana | tad adya kuru rādheya kurumadhye mayā saha ||
Arjuna disse: “Tudo o que outrora proclamaste na assembleia dos Kurus sem sequer me enfrentares—torna-o verdadeiro hoje, ó filho de Rādhā, lutando comigo aqui, no meio dos Kurus.”
अर्जुन उवाच
Words of valor and public claims carry ethical weight in a kṣatriya context: boasting without direct encounter is challenged, and honor demands that speech be matched by action when the true test arrives.
Arjuna directly addresses Karṇa, recalling Karṇa’s earlier statements made in the Kuru court when Arjuna was not present, and now calls on him to prove those claims through actual combat in front of the Kuru forces.
