Dhaumya’s Enumeration of Eastern Tīrthas
Prācī-diś Tīrtha-kathana
The verse teaches that sincere austerity and disciplined observance at a sacred place can yield spiritual merit comparable to elaborate Vedic sacrifices, emphasizing accessible paths to dharma through pilgrimage and fasting.
Pulastya is describing the fruits of visiting specific tīrthas. Here he states that reaching Ṛṣabha-tīrtha in Kosala and fasting for three nights grants the merit of the prestigious Vājapeya sacrifice.
