Aqui, ó touro entre os Bhāratas, há um lugar sagrado de banho—um lago santo pertencente aos Vasus. Quem nele se banha e bebe de suas águas torna-se estimado e querido pelas divindades Vasu.
घुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse teaches that disciplined pilgrimage practices—especially bathing (snāna) and drinking sanctified water at a consecrated tīrtha—are understood to purify a person and align them with divine approval, here specifically the favor of the Vasus. Ethically, it emphasizes reverence, self-restraint, and the pursuit of merit through sacred observances.
A speaker is guiding the listener through a sequence of holy places, praising a particular tīrtha that contains a sacred lake associated with the Vasus. The speaker states the spiritual benefit (phala) gained by performing ritual acts there—bathing and drinking the water—namely becoming esteemed by the Vasu deities.
