Adhyāya 73: Damayantī’s Investigation of Bāhuka
Keśinī’s Observations
विश्राम्यतामित्युवाच क्लान्तोडसीति पुन: पुनः । स सत्कृतः प्रह्ृष्टात्मा प्रीतः प्रीतेन पार्थिव:,और कहा--“आप बहुत थक गये होंगे, अतः विश्राम कीजिये।” विदर्भनरेशके द्वारा प्रसन्नतापूर्वक आदर-सत्कार पाकर राजा ऋतुपर्णको बड़ी प्रसन्नता हुई
viśrāmyatām ity uvāca klānto 'si iti punaḥ punaḥ | sa satkṛtaḥ prahṛṣṭātmā prītaḥ prītena pārthivaḥ ||
Disse Bṛhadaśva: “Descansai”, repetia ele vez após vez, “estais fatigado.” Assim, quando o soberano de Vidarbha, jubiloso, honrou o rei com alegre hospitalidade, o rei Ṛtupārṇa ficou profundamente satisfeito em seu coração.
बृहदश्चव उवाच
The verse underscores dharmic conduct through considerate speech and hospitality: noticing another’s fatigue, urging rest, and honoring a guest respectfully—actions that cultivate goodwill and righteous kingship.
The Vidarbha ruler repeatedly asks the weary visitor to rest and receives him with honor; as a result, King Ṛtupārṇa feels deeply pleased and welcomed.
