Parṇāda’s Report; Bāhuka’s Counsel; Damayantī’s Strategic Svayaṃvara Message (अध्याय ६८)

Disse Bṛhadaśva: “Quando esta tarefa for concluída com êxito e o senhor de Niṣadha for reconhecido, concederei mil vacas àquele dentre vós que trouxer Nala e Damayantī até aqui.”
ब॒हदश्व उवाच
The verse highlights a kingly ethic of patronage: a ruler publicly commits to a substantial reward for successful service, encouraging effort while binding himself to generosity and accountability once the objective is achieved.
Bṛhadaśva announces an incentive: after the mission succeeds and the king of Niṣadha (Nala) is recognized, whoever brings Nala and Damayantī to his presence will receive a reward of one thousand cows.
