Divākara-prasāda and the Establishment of Akṣaya-anna

Sūrya’s Favor and Inexhaustible Provision

Educational Q&A

Timely, decisive action aligned with dharma is essential in governance. Even if outcomes depend partly on fate (śeṣa), a ruler must act promptly to prevent preventable ruin; negligence makes catastrophe certain.

Vidura is warning the king that immediate corrective measures are needed regarding the king’s sons and the stability of the realm. He argues that swift action may preserve their position if any good fortune remains, but inaction will inevitably lead to the downfall of the Kuru lineage.
