Arjuna’s journey to Indrakīla and encounter with Indra
यथा च पुरुषव्याप्रो दीर्घबाहुर्धनंजय: । वन॑ प्रविष्टस्तेजस्वी निर्मनुष्यमभीतवत्,पुरुषसिंह महाबाहु तेजस्वी धनंजय उस निर्जन वनमें निर्भयके समान कैसे चले गये थे?
yathā ca puruṣavyāpro dīrghabāhur dhanañjayaḥ | vanaṁ praviṣṭas tejasvī nirmanuṣyam abhītavat ||
Janamejaya disse: “Como o radiante Dhanañjaya (Arjuna)—leão entre os homens, de longos braços e sempre cheio de vigor—entrou naquela floresta deserta, sem gente, e ali se moveu como se não tivesse medo?”
जनमेजय उवाच
The verse highlights heroic steadiness: true valor is not mere aggression but fearlessness grounded in inner strength (tejas) and disciplined effort, especially when facing isolation and uncertainty.
King Janamejaya asks how Arjuna—described with traditional heroic epithets—went into a deserted forest and conducted himself there without fear, setting up an explanation of Arjuna’s actions and circumstances in the forest episode.
