Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes moral causality: beings can discern what leads to uplift, and they inevitably experience the tangible consequences of their deeds. Karma is not merely private; its results are evident and socially verifiable—‘the world’ functions as witness.

Yudhiṣṭhira is speaking in a reflective, didactic mode, grounding ethical reasoning in observable reality: actions produce visible outcomes, and society at large can attest to them. The statement supports a broader discussion on right conduct and accountability.
