Dharma-pratyabhijñāna and Vara-pradāna (धर्मप्रत्यभिज्ञानम्—वरप्रदानम्)
अनुव्रजन्ती भर्तारें जगाम मृदुगामिनी । द्विधेव हृदयं कृत्वा तं च कालमवेक्षती,मन्दगतिसे चलनेवाली सावित्री मानो अपने हृदयके दो भाग करके एकसे अपने पतिका अनुसरण करती और दूसरेसे प्रतिक्षण उनके मृत्युकालकी प्रतीक्षा कर रही थी
anuvrajantī bhartāraṃ jagāma mṛdugāminī | dvidheva hṛdayaṃ kṛtvā taṃ ca kālam avekṣatī ||
Sāvitrī, de passos suaves, continuou a seguir o marido. Era como se tivesse dividido o coração em dois: uma parte, firme, acompanhando-o; e a outra, a cada instante, vigiando a hora marcada de sua morte.
