Entry into the Yakṣa-Lake Episode
राजोवाच अपीदानीं स तेजस्वी बुद्धिमान् वा नृपात्मज: । क्षमावानपि वा शूर: सत्यवान् पितृवत्सल:,राजाने पूछा--देवर्ष! इस समय पितृभक्त राजकुमार सत्यवान् तेजस्वी, बुद्धिमान, क्षमावान् और शूरवीर तो है न?
rājovāca: apīdānīṃ sa tejasvī buddhimān vā nṛpātmajaḥ | kṣamāvān api vā śūraḥ satyavān pitṛvatsalaḥ ||
O rei disse: “Ó vidente divino, é esse príncipe Satyavān, ainda agora, verdadeiramente radiante e perspicaz—paciente e, contudo, valente; veraz e devotado ao pai?”
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic ideal of a prince: brilliance and discernment guided by patience, courage, truthfulness, and filial devotion—virtues that define worthiness beyond mere power.
The king questions the divine sage Nārada about Satyavān’s present character, seeking confirmation that the prince still embodies the noble qualities attributed to him.
