Sāvitrī’s Dialogue with Yama and the Restoration of Satyavān
स मालया तदा वीर: शुशुभे कण्ठसक्तया । श्रीमानिव महाशैलो मलयो मेघमालया,कण्ठमें पड़ी हुई उस मालासे वीर सुग्रीव उस समय मेघपंक्तिसे सुशोभित महापर्वत मलयकी भाँति शोभा पा रहे थे
sa mālayā tadā vīraḥ śuśubhe kaṇṭha-saktayā | śrīmān iva mahāśailo malayo megha-mālayā ||
Disse Mārkaṇḍeya: Naquele momento, o herói Sugrīva brilhava com a grinalda pousada em seu pescoço, assim como o esplêndido grande monte Malaya se torna belo quando adornado por uma fileira de nuvens como se fosse uma grinalda.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse suggests that true splendor is not merely external; when a hero’s adornment is appropriate and auspicious, it becomes a sign of inner vitality and dignity, like nature’s own ornamentation of a mountain with clouds.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes Sugrīva at that moment: a garland lies upon his neck, enhancing his radiance. The poet compares this beauty to Mount Malaya appearing magnificent when encircled by cloud-bands.
