Yudhiṣṭhira’s Lament on Kāla and Daiva after Draupadī’s Recovery (आरण्यक पर्व, अध्याय २५७)
गच्छ द्वैतवनं शीघ्रं पाण्डवान् पापपूरुषान् | निमन्त्रय यथान्यायं विप्रांस्तस्मिन् वने तदा,“तुम शीघ्रतापूर्वक द्वैतवनमें जाओ और पापात्मा पाण्डवों तथा उस वनमें रहनेवाले ब्राह्मणोंको यथोचित रीतिसे निमन्त्रण दे आओ”
gaccha dvaitavanaṃ śīghraṃ pāṇḍavān pāpapūruṣān | nimantraya yathānyāyaṃ viprāṃs tasmin vane tadā ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Vai depressa à floresta de Dvaitavana. Convida, de modo devido e conforme à lei, os Pāṇḍavas — esses homens pecadores — e também os brâmanes que habitam naquela mata.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even when addressing those viewed with blame, actions like inviting guests—especially Brahmins—should be done yathānyāya, i.e., with due propriety and in accordance with dharma. The verse highlights that correct procedure and respectful social-religious conduct remain binding ethical norms.
A messenger is instructed to go swiftly to the Dvaita forest and formally invite the Pāṇḍavas and the Brahmins residing there. The command suggests an impending gathering or event requiring proper invitations and observance of customary rules.
