Koṭikāśya’s Inquiry to the Radiant Woman near the Kadamba (कोटिकाश्यप्रश्नः)
समावृता दिशो दृष्टवा पाण्डवेन शितै: शरै: । धनंजयसखा55त्मानं दर्शयामास वै तदा,पाण्डुनन्दन अर्जुनने अपने तीखे बाणोंसे समस्त दिशाओंको आच्छादित कर दिया है, यह देखकर उनके सखा चित्रसेनने अपने-आपको उनके सामने प्रकट कर दिया
samāvṛtā diśo dṛṣṭvā pāṇḍavena śitaiḥ śaraiḥ | dhanañjaya-sakhā citrasena ātmānaṃ darśayāmāsa vai tadā ||
Disse Duryodhana: “Vendo os quadrantes do céu cobertos pelas flechas agudas do Pāṇḍava, o companheiro de Dhanañjaya — Chitrasena — revelou-se então diante dele.”
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse highlights how decisive, forceful action in a conflict can bring concealed forces into the open; it also hints at the ethical tension between prowess and restraint—martial display has consequences, drawing new participants and escalating the situation.
Duryodhana narrates that Arjuna’s sharp arrows seemed to fill the quarters, and upon witnessing this, Chitrasena—described as Arjuna/Dhanañjaya’s companion—manifested himself before him at that moment.
