The verse frames divine parentage not merely biologically but theologically: when a being is generated through a deity’s power and essence (Rudra’s tejas manifest in Agni), the resulting child is rightly identified with that deity’s lineage—highlighting how agency and spiritual causality establish identity and affiliation.
Mārkaṇḍeya explains Skanda’s origin: Rudra, acting through/with Agni, causes the birth of a child within the fire. Because the birth occurs from fire imbued with Rudra’s nature, the child Skanda is consequently recognized as Rudra’s son.
