इन्द्रद्युम्नोपाख्यानम्
Indradyumna Upākhyāna: On Kīrti, Smṛti, and Restoration
भविष्यन्ति नरा नित्य॑ं तदा संक्षेप्स्यते युगम् । यह सब युगान्तका लक्षण समझना चाहिये। जब सब मानव सदा भयंकर स्वभाववाले, धर्महीन, मांसखोर और शराबी हो जायँगे, उस समय युगका संहार होगा ।। पुष्पं पुष्पे यदा राजन् फले वा फलमाश्रितम्,महाराज! जब फूलमें फूल, फलमें फल लगने लगेगा, उस समय युगका संहार होगा। युगान्तकालमें मेघ असमयमें ही वर्षा करेंगे
bhaviṣyanti narā nityaṁ tadā saṁkṣepsyate yugam | puṣpaṁ puṣpe yadā rājan phale vā phalam āśritam |
Mārkaṇḍeya disse: “Quando as pessoas se corromperem continuamente a ponto de a própria era ser abreviada, sabei que o fim do yuga está próximo. Ó rei, quando surgirem sinais contra a natureza—quando uma flor trouxer outra flor, ou um fruto trouxer outro fruto—entendei que a dissolução se aproxima.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The passage teaches that widespread moral collapse (loss of dharma) is mirrored by disorder in nature; such ethical and cosmic imbalance signals the approaching end of an age (yugānta).
Sage Mārkaṇḍeya addresses a king and describes portents of the yuga’s end, including unnatural botanical phenomena (a flower producing a flower, a fruit producing a fruit), as indicators that the era is being cut short.
