Nahūṣa-Ājagara Saṃvāda: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Definition of Brāhmaṇa and the ‘Vedyam’ Debate

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharma as fidelity to a pledged course: even when retaliation is possible, one should restrain anger and uphold a vow, choosing principled endurance over impulsive violence.

The speaker explains that, out of commitment to the Kuru king’s vow and to please him, they will not abandon the forest-exile to go and kill Duryodhana along with his followers; they remain bound to the agreed discipline of vanavāsa.
