Arjuna’s Arrival and Reunion on the Sacred Mountain
तमापतत्तं वेगेन प्रभिन्नमिव वारणम् | वत्सदन्तैस्त्रिभि: पाश्वे भीमसेन: समार्दयत्,मदकी धारा बहानेवाले गजराजकी भाँति मणिमानको बड़े वेगसे आता देख भीमसेनने वत्सदन्त नामक तीन बाणोंद्वारा उनकी पसलीमें प्रहार किया
tam āpatattaṁ vegena prabhinnam iva vāraṇam | vatsadantaiḥ tribhiḥ pārśve bhīmasenaḥ samārdayat ||
Disse Vaiśampāyana: Vendo Maṇimān avançar a grande velocidade—como um elefante poderoso em musth—Bhīmasena atingiu-lhe o flanco com três flechas chamadas Vatsadanta, refreando seu ímpeto no calor do combate.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights kṣātra-dharma in action: when confronted by a violent assault, a warrior responds with decisive, proportionate force and skill to neutralize the threat, using disciplined martial ability rather than panic.
Maṇimān charges at Bhīma with great momentum, compared to a musth elephant. Bhīma counters by shooting three Vatsadanta arrows into his flank, halting or weakening the charge.
