Arjuna’s Arrival and Reunion on the Sacred Mountain
धनुष्कोटिमवष्टभ्य वक्रभावेन बाहुना । पश्यमान: स खेदेन द्रविणाधिपते: पुरम्,अपनी तिरछी की हुई बाहुसे धनुषकी नोकको स्थिर करके भीमसेन उस धनाध्यक्ष कुबेरके नगरको बड़े खेदके साथ देख रहे थे
dhanuṣkoṭim avaṣṭabhya vakrabhāvena bāhunā | paśyamānaḥ sa khedena draviṇādhipateḥ puram ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: Firmando a ponta do arco com o braço dobrado em ângulo, Bhīmasena contemplou a cidade do Senhor da Riqueza, Kubera; mas fê-lo com o coração pesado, como se a própria visão o oprimisse com tensão e presságio.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined resolve under strain: even a mighty hero must steady himself—physically and inwardly—when approaching realms of divine power and wealth. It subtly contrasts external grandeur with inner burden, suggesting that true strength includes endurance and humility before higher forces.
Bhīmasena, holding his bow in a braced, angled posture, gazes at Kubera’s city. Despite the splendor implied by the Lord of Wealth’s abode, Bhīma is described as looking with kheda—weariness or dejection—indicating hardship, tension, or apprehension in the moment.
