युगेष्वावर्तमानेषु धर्मो व्यावर्तते पुन: । धर्मे व्यावर्तमाने तु लोको व्यावर्तते पुन:,युगोंके परिवर्तन होनेपर आनेवाले युगोंके अनुसार धर्मका भी हास होता जाता है। इस प्रकार धर्मके क्षीण होनेसे लोक (की सुख-सुविधा)-का भी क्षय होने लगता है
yugeṣv āvartamāneṣu dharmo vyāvartate punaḥ | dharme vyāvartamāne tu loko vyāvartate punaḥ ||
Bhīma disse: “À medida que as eras (yugas) giram e se sucedem, o dharma também se desvia—declinando conforme a era que chega. E quando o dharma assim declina, o próprio mundo volta a declinar: sua ordem, seu bem-estar e as condições que sustentam a vida humana diminuem com ele.”
भीम उवाच
Dharma is the sustaining principle of the world; when it declines with the turning of the ages, society’s stability and well-being also decline. Ethical deterioration is presented as the root cause of worldly deterioration.
Bhīma reflects on the cyclical nature of time (yugas) and explains that as ages change, dharma correspondingly weakens; this weakening then leads to a broader decline in the world’s order and prosperity.
