वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights steadfast resolve in righteous service: courage is meaningful when directed toward dharma—here, undertaking a perilous crossing to fulfill a duty of loyalty and protection toward the innocent and the rightful cause.
The speaker recounts crossing the ocean and meeting Sītā, Janaka’s daughter, in the enemy’s domain—an episode aligned with the Rāmāyaṇa narrative (Hanumān’s mission to find Sītā), invoked within the Mahābhārata’s storytelling context.
