Gaṅgā-Tīrtha Darśana and the Prelude to the Yavakrīta–Indra Exemplum (लोमश-युधिष्ठिर संवादः)
ततोडष्टावक्रमातुरथान्तिके पिता नदीं समड्जां शीघ्रमिमां विशस्व । प्रोवाच चैनं स तथा विवेश समैरद्जैश्वापि बभूव सद्य:,तदनन्तर पिता कहोडने अष्टावक्रकी माता सुजाताके निकट पुत्र अष्टावक्रसे कहा--“बेटा! तुम शीघ्र ही इस “समंगा” नदीमें स्नानके लिये प्रवेश करो।' पिताकी आज्ञाके अनुसार उन्होंने उस नदीमें स्नानके लिये प्रवेश किया। उसके जलका स्पर्श होनेपर तत्काल ही उनके सब अंग सीधे हो गये
tato ’ṣṭāvakram āturathāntike pitā nadīṁ samaṅgāṁ śīghram imāṁ viśasva | provāca cainaṁ sa tathā viveśa samair aṅgaiś cāpi babhūva sadyaḥ ||
Então seu pai, Kahoḍa, que estava ali perto, disse a Aṣṭāvakra: “Meu filho, entra depressa neste rio Samaṅgā para te banhares.” Obedecendo à ordem paterna, ele entrou no rio; e, assim que a água o tocou, todos os seus membros se endireitaram de imediato e ficaram bem formados.
लोगश उवाच
Purification and the fruition of merit can manifest suddenly when the proper moment and means arrive; obedience to a rightful instruction (here, the father’s command) becomes the immediate doorway through which grace and transformation occur.
Kahoda instructs his son Aṣṭāvakra to enter the river Samaṅgā for a bath. As Aṣṭāvakra enters and the water touches him, his previously bent limbs become straight instantly.
