गङ्गाधारणम् (Gaṅgādhāraṇa) — Śiva Bears the Descent of Gaṅgā
कैलासं पर्वतं गत्वा तोषयामास शंकरम् | तपस्तीव्रमुपागम्य कालयोगेन केनचित्,राजन! यह सुनकर महाराज भगीरथ कैलासपर्वतपर गये और वहाँ उन्होंने तीव्र तपस्या करके कुछ समयके बाद भगवान् शंकरको प्रसन्न किया
kailāsaṃ parvataṃ gatvā toṣayāmāsa śaṅkaram | tapas tīvram upāgamya kālayogena kenacit, rājan |
Lomasha disse: “Ó rei, tendo ido ao Monte Kailāsa, ele agradou a Śaṅkara. Empreendendo austeridades severas e, após o tempo transcorrer no devido curso, alcançou o favor do Senhor.”
लोगश उवाच
Steady, disciplined effort (tapas) undertaken with devotion and patience bears fruit in due time; divine favor is portrayed as responding to sincere perseverance rather than haste.
Lomasha narrates that Bhagiratha travels to Mount Kailāsa and performs intense austerities; after some time passes, Śiva (Śaṅkara) becomes pleased with him.
