Surabhi–Indra Dialogue as a Governance Exemplar
One should carry out the counsel of a wise and spiritually potent person without hesitation; neglect of a rightful instruction invites grave consequences, including the moral and karmic danger symbolized here by a curse.
Vyāsa warns Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the sage (Maitreya) should be obeyed. If Dhṛtarāṣṭra allows the prescribed action to be ignored, Maitreya, angered, will curse Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s son—foreshadowing disaster for the Kuru house.
